Journey to Point Reyes to See the Elephant Seals

You may find elephant seals at Point Reyes throughout the year, but it’s between December and March that they really take over the beaches. Breeding and pupping season is in the winter, molting occurs in segregated groups in spring and summer, and the juveniles show up in the fall. The best place to see elephant seals in Point Reyes Park is at Chimney Rock. It’s a short walk from the Chimney Rock parking lot to the Elephant Seal Overlook. Then, stop for lunch in Point Reyes Station for some incredible sandwiches at Side Street Kitchen or other small businesses! Free to visit.

Check out Entwined Light Exhibit in Golden Gate Park

Entwined’s forest of illuminated color once again lights up Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park this winter with new upgrades, immersing park visitors in a realm of art, technology, and nature. This immersive experience was designed specifically for Peacock Meadow by San Francisco artist Charles Gadeken. The arrangement in the installation creates twisting paths through large flowering clusters, trees to sit under, and shifting lights and color. Exhibit is here through March and free to attend.

Get Crafty at a Paint Party

Join the page street neighborhood to paint community art and signs for Page Slow Street. All supplies provided. All are welcome, especially kids & families! Event is free and happening from 11am to 1pm on Saturday.
